Currently under Linux one can only develop FIX, while the API is only available under Windows. Creating the same interface for Linux would be a help for Linux users.

We have a Quote API for non-Windows based developers as well. Is that what you are looking for? Ross

Quote API is for quote only though. A complete API for Linux would be useful for use in a streamlined environment.

We also have a full FIX 4.4 API for orders and account data. R

Yes, you're right.

Would it be possible to document the network calls made by MBT Desktop/Web/Mobile? That would make it easier for us Linux developers to get started without the fees associated with FIX (though I guess the fees are minuscule for those who would actually employ this).

Main issue I see with this would be how to implement authentication and encryption. OAuth and simple HTTPS maybe?

We will be producing an API for the Desktop applications later in the year but they will still be COM and thus I don't think a solution for another OS. FIX would still be the applicable API for non-Windows OS's.
