Pivot Points on MBT Desktop Pro

I would like to see the Daily Pivot Points study on MBT Desktop Pro reprogrammed to allow the option of only plotting of ONLY the current day's pivot points, i.e. all of the pivot points from R3 to S3 would be displayed on the chart, but only for the current day, not all the prior days as well.  This wold significantly reduce the clutter on the chart.  A lot of other charting programs have the option to display all prior days or just display the current day's pivot points.

I have read similar suggestions to my request here and they were referred to writing a custom formula.  However, this does not solve the issue as we would need to write a formula for each pivot line and these lines are still displayed for all prior days as well.  The easiest thing to do is to just reprogram the default Daily Pivot Point study.

In addition, I would love to also have Weekly (and maybe monthly) pivot points added to MBT Desktop Pro with the same features I'm describing above.

Pivot points can be designed for any period. As you know they are based on closed bars. I am a little unclear how a hard coded pivot point would make more sense here? I am certainly open to it but I fail to understand what you are unable to do with regard to a single set of pivot points for today only. Can you show me where were failing here to deliver or be a little more specific on what you can not do so we can work through this together?

Hi Ross,

When the MBT Desktop Pro user selects the "Daily Pivots" from the Studies Menu it will correctly show the Daily Pivot Points for the current day and all prior days on the chart. You'll notice different lines all throughout the chart.

I'm suggesting that MBT Desktop Pro allow users to have an option to only have the current day's pivot points displayed. This will significantly reduce the clutter on the chart. When trading it is the current's day's pivot points that the trader is interested in. If we want to go back and look at prior days pivots (for backtesting, to analyze prior trades, etc.), then we should just be able to turn that option on. Other charting packages have this option.

Also, as mentioned previously, I would also like to have an option to display the Weekly Pivots and Montly Pivots with the same options discussed above.

What the preferences for the Pivot Study look like for lets sday Daily. You selct it go to preferences and what are the options. Fell free to email CEO@mbtrading.com with any screen shots and descriptions and lets see what we can go to get this done.

Add feature for FOREX traders to use the daily period they want to produce the daily pivots. Many Forex traders use the beginning of day as Asian market open. Allow pivots to be calculated on 24HR from ex. 8:00PM eastern day one to 8:00PM eastern day 2.

This feature has been enhancved as requested in the RC release as of 2/24/2012.
