Suggestion:   Change the Market depth window from a typed in window to a pulldown window.

Problem:   The market depth does not have a pulldown symbol  window.     Currently to change the symbol it must be typed into the maket depth window.     (The charts and main platform have a pulldown symbol windows   but, Market depth does not.   )

Why it’s a problem.   If charts space are  maximized then the market depth must be placed at the edges.     Time is lost when the trader has to manually type in the symbol or cursor to a location where there is a pulldown window.

Why it is needed:   Sometime  the trader wants to quickly move from pair to pair without leaving the  order entry area.     Time conservation and focus is desired.    A pulldown window better achieves this.

I just tested this myself and it appears to me that Market Depth does have a pull down just like charts, it just does not utilize an arrow. Also, are you aware this window can be color linked (and account linked) to other windows as well for easy symbol loading?

I am aware of the account linked method. I have all my windows linked. Charts, Position, orderbook, and main platform are all linked they work great.

My process is: I see potential setups on my 3 minute charts (on another monitor) then I want to jump to the 1 minute chart and see if the setup has matured. If they have not then I want to move to the next. If I find one pair ready I shift focus to the order entry secion of the Market Depth.

For example if I am in GBP/JPY is visible and want to see the NZD/JPY then I have to highlight GBP/JPY type N then select NZD/JPY hit enter and the market depth changes to NZD/JPY. The pull down arrow means that action can be accomplished with one click.

I find the pull down arrow fast and efficientl.

if t Market Depth does have a pull down just like charts, it just does not utilize an arrow, then how do you use the pull down feature? I can't figure it out.

Have been working with this since I submitted the suggestion.
The market depth symbol window is awkward when you have positions open in two or more currencies. Trading may require fast action to close a position. (if I want to close it with a limited order) This is all based on the market depth floating window being the center for trading execution. A pulldown window with an arrow instantly chooses the symbol with just one click. That is not the case with the current window. You have to erase and then type in the first letter of the desired symbol before you can see all the available similar symbols. This is multiple (5) steps that wastes time...... I still prefer the pulldown window with the arrow!

I just don't see how market depth will know when to display in its symbol pull down your position symbol vs. a symbol you previously had or simply want to see? If you wish to explain I am interested in helping you. In the mean time I have personally made thousands of trades in Pro and I have always used the Position window and its OES for managing my open trades. The amount of data it holds compared to the Montage is significantly larger and thus more robust. As far as single click on pairs I also have a Watchlist with all pairs loaded at once which I open trades from (with two clicks, or hot-keys). I believe single click if not in the current Pro is in the next version. Let me know how I can help.

bc_varney,
Do you want the same pull down we currently use in the Charts? Is that the pull down you are referring too? Confusion on my part is it being two clicks not one. Please clarify.

I use Market Depth not for stocks I am holding but for stocks I am watching. It would be nice to have a drop down arrow next to the symbol box to allow you to easily switch between symbols without having to type the first letter. The issue is not so much one click vs. two clicks but having to move your hand off the mouse to go to the keyboard. That's what I would like to avoid.

I agree with Alice. I want the Market depth with a pull down arrow so symbols can be selected with the mouse.

I see that if you clear the symbol in the Symbol field of the Market Depth window and press the down arrow, you will see the list of symbols that you have previously typed in. The list is displayed in alphabetical order. If you implement this feature, can you please show the symbols in most-recently-used order? Similar to the list of recent Google searches in the drop down search box on the Google toolbar.
