The axis can be expanded in the  X&Y directions by left clicking and pulling in the margin.   But, they do not work correctly as given.   Attached is a clip that shows the X&Y expanded on the EUR/USD.   The Yaxis show the major and minor grid line, But, the X axis shows Nothing.    Even though the major and minor values are selected in the chart preferences.     They need to be shown if selected in the preferences.

Still would prefer have some user selectability.   If grid selection is not possible then a selection value for the zoom.   Then I can get the exact part of the chart I want.

Nothing attached so I cant see what your talking about. If its a bug we will fix but I need to be more clear on the issue.

The x-axis never shows grid lines even if "Major X" and "Minor X-Y" are selected. Not sure what value x-axis grid lines would have since the x-axis is not a value axis.

I am a little confused here myself. Isn't the X axis time?

Yes, it is the time. What makes this suggestion difficult to deal with is the X-axis(time) sometimes displays lines. But, to get that to happen you have to expand or compress the chart. For example, on my 2 minute chart I had to compress the chart down to its maximum value to get the vertical lines to be visible. That is not usable for my trading, I want to see the visible candle colors. To get colors I have to expand the chart so individual candles come into view, but, then I have no vertical lines.

Note: This is also applies to an earlier suggestion to have the time displayed at the bottom of the screen when the cursor moves across the screen.

Between the fixed vertical X-axis(time) lines and a time display from the cursor a trader can get both general and exact time measurements.

Barton,
In order for us to be productive together we have to really hone in on one idea per thread. These threads end up being reviewed by developers so it’s important that the thought stream is a specific as possible. So in reading your last comment my take away is that the vertical grid lines need to work in a different manner. Currently we use major and minor Y axis gridlines on a reasonable zoom out because if for example we did 5 min gridlines on a 5 min chart and you expanded the chart you would have way too many gridlines to even see the data. So what I need from you is to propose what you think is a better implementation understanding that we have charts of different intervals. A solution has to work for all intervals (and symbols).
As far as visible candle colors, please start a new thread if you believe there is a bug here. I am unable to determine your issue.
