I know this has been posted before but it is very important. MB Trading should keep track of the opening price for all positions. When a position is closed - during the same day - or another day - show the real p&l based on the opening price. I dislike that all P&L's for non-day trades are based off of yesterday's closing price. This makes no sense.

I used to trade with CyberTrader (now part of Charles Schwab). They were very good and always showed the read p&l. CyberTrader also used Penson as a back-end like MB Trading. But CyberTrader kept track of the open prices for all positions so they could show the read p&l.

For sure this is one that needs to be implemented.

This would be helpful for swing traders and semi-investors.

But Ross is saying that MB and Penson interface is the culprit to this. I still support this idea. It is critically important for us to have such feature.

I would think it's theoretically possible. Each order executed has a unique identifier. At the point of exiting you'd have to have a pop-up of all orders for that security (entries) and then select one or more entries to be tied in with the exit quantity. #1 - I buy 100 XYZ #2 - I buy 400 XYZ #3 - I buy 1400 XYZ #4 - I buy 200 XYZ Now I want to sell 800 XYZ. There are many combinations of the buys I can select on my sell end. I could select #1, #2, #4 and 100 from #3. I could select all 800 from #3 and so on. It could get very cumbersome if one makes quite a few buys in the same security as well as time consuming when closing the trade(s) if the market is moving fast.

Please test: - Done positions window – double PNL columns – Today (open P&L, closeP&L, total) that is market to market for equities and standard for FX Basis (open P&L, closed P&L and total) that is by actual cost basis of position

I tested and I don't see this working. I had a short position in WFR that I opened at 12.35. Yesterday WFR closed at 12.60. But Avg.Price2 correctly showed 12.35 as my real basis this morning. Today, I covered the shares at 12.25. This should show $10 as the Closed P&L but instead Navigator showed $35.

I have no idea how many shares you owned but as far as your statement is concerned (which is Marked to Market) your PnL adjustment should be based on the difference between 12.35 and the close of 12.25, i.e. .10 per share profit. R

OK. But is there a field in the Positions window of Navigator that should show the difference between 12.35 (the original basis) and the close of 12.25, i.e. .10 per share profit (or .10 x number of shares)? From your comment above ("Done positions window...") I thought there was a field that would show this.

Ok, lets separate the concepts here so we can work through this and I can get us what we all want. Balance Tab: Realized PnL Unrealized PnL Total PnL Positions Window: Various applicable columns to Pnl for both Mark to Market and Overnight holds. So now to make sure you get what you want, I believe you are asking for a field in the Position window which gives you the Closed PnL of an overnight hold against the avg_prc basis "NON Mark to Market" of that position? R

Yes, that is correct! I am assuming what you are calling "avg_prc basis" is the same as Avg_Price2 in Navigator. This is the 12.35 number in the example above - instead of the 12.60. So the PnL shown in the Positions window would be $10 (100 shares x .10 real profit) instead of $35.

You added the columns "Basis Closed P&L" and "Today Close P&L" and neither contained the $10 you were looking for? R

I am using MBT Navigator 11.4.02 and it does not have the columns "Basis Closed P&L" and "Today Close P&L". It only has OpenPnL, ClosedPnL, and Total PnL.

I installed the Navigator Pro. I see a column for "Basis Closed P&L" but I don't see "Today Closed P&L". I did not close any overnight positions today, so I can't see if "Basis Closed P&L" shows what you say it should. I see a column for "Today Total P&L". When I add this to my positions window, it shows the P&L using yesterday's closing price and not the BasisAvgPrice (i.e. the real open price of the position). Is this correct? Is there a column to see Open P&L using Current Price - BasisAvgPrice?

If you don't see the columns I referenced above please either add all columns available and recheck or call tech support. R

Sorry, I do see it now. Funny that one is called Basis Closed P&L (with an 'ed at the end) and the other is called Today Close (as in near by) P&L. It seems there are 2 dimensions to show P&L: Open vs. Closed and also Day (i.e. based on yesterday's closing price) vs. Basis (i.e. based on real open price). For a day trade, Day and Basis would be the same. For positions held overnight and closed the next day, Day and Basis would be different. It looks like you now have 3 of the 4: Open and Closed Day P&L (calculated off of yesterday's closing price), and Closed Basis P&L. It would be nice to have Open Basis P&L in the future.

I closed an overnight position this morning. The new Navigator field "Basis Closed P&L" shows $0.00 - which is not correct.

I am sorry I can not tech support it. Please take screen shots and document it for us, I am sure we can get it fixed if it is broken. R
