Right now if you have multiple accounts, you need to use different email addresses for each account. This is a REAL problem. When margin calls are generated, an email gets sent to the email address for that account. If you only check one email address you will miss out. WHY CAN'T MB TRADING ALLOW A SINGLE EMAIL ADDRESS TO BE USED FOR MULTIPLE ACCOUNTS?

Not sure what you are referring to here with regard to email address requirement? LET ME KNOW :-)

It is very simple. When you open a new equities account, you need to supply a UNIQUE email address (not one that has already been used). I have 2 equities accounts. So I had to supply 2 different email addresses (check with anyone in support about this requirement). This is a huge problem, because I only check one email address. When margin calls are generated, an email is sent to the email address for that account. Please get your developers to allow one email address to be associated with multiple equity accounts (again, I have heard "our architecture doesn't allow this").

I have multiple accounts but have a single email contact point. Do you guys have your accounts linked via MAT?

As dhohhi suggested. No development needed, just change the email address on the account to match the other. R

That is not true. I just checked with Monica in New Accounts. While, you can have a single email address for multiple accounts that is used for trade confirmations and monthly statements, but for any correspondence from MB Trading - including Margin Calls - she said these need to be SEPARATE email addresses. Not only that - these email addresses she said are NOT shown anywhere on the MB Trading website. She said they are working to allow a single email address to be used, but it will require a whole new database, she said.

I'll come back to you on this, not making a whole lot of sense to me at this point. R

Email address is associated with Username. If you use one UN for all your accounts you can have a single address. I assume this is in fact what you are doing? That being said, if you have unique UN's they must have unique email address'. Your original question was " WHY CAN'T MB TRADING ALLOW A SINGLE EMAIL ADDRESS TO BE USED FOR MULTIPLE ACCOUNTS?" TO be clear you can in fact have multiple accounts with one email address. Ross

What Ross describes is exactly how I'm set up; 2 of my own accounts and an account of a friend, all a part of MAT with a single username. Being able to fire up a single instance of Navigator with access to all accounts is the logical way to go IMO.

I need to have 2 different usernames in order to use the SDK and Navigator simulataneously. You can log into Navigator with one username - but when you run your program using the SDK - you need to login with a different username. But both my usernames have access to both accounts. I don't know why my 2 usernames are divided up between the 2 accounts. Why can't both usernames be associated with both accounts? I need to get all communication that comes by email from MB Trading sent to a single email address.

Usernames are independent of accounts. They are "perm" sets as you know. The accounts "mapped" to a user name can be all your accounts, some or none. I understand we currently have some email restrictions, I expect to modify that in the near future. I still remain unclear on how we did not solve your original question? R

I checked with customer support and they said for Forex accounts, you can associate one username with multiple accounts. For equities, you cannot. Each username has to be associated with a different account. That is why I am stuck having 2 usernames with 2 different email addresses. If you could fix that, it would be great.

Who did you speak with? Or if you wish email me your name to CEO AT mbtrading.com and I will find out. R

Ameade, Something sounds odd. Maybe a mix-up. I have 2 accounts (as well as a 3rd belonging to a friend) and access all 3 with one ID. Unless maybe there's been a recent change to not allow a linkage of accounts. I added my 2nd account about 2 years ago.

I love your customer service. I got 2 follow up calls this morning. I think they both confirmed the problem. Yes, you can associate one username with multiple accounts - BUT - when a margin call email gets sent out, they said the margin call email will go the email address associated with the Account - not the email address associated with the UN on the account. So we are back to the same problem - we need to be able to associate one email address with multiple accounts. Another alternative is for Penson to send the emails to the general email they have on file for the account holder (which is not required to be unique). Thanks for looking into this.

Dhohhi, Yes, you can have 2 accounts linked to one UN. But the margin call emails will all go the email address for the account - not the UN - is what MB Trading told me.

On the second phone call, the customer service rep said they would do something manually to allow margin call emails for both accounts to go to my primary email address (fwiw, a customer service rep said they would do this a couple of months ago and it did not happen). I will see if it works this time.

Well, it worked. I got 2 margin call emails for my 2 different accounts. Thanks.
